You can view the 156th edition of the race between rowing crews from England’s Oxford and Cambridge universities from many points along the Thames, but insiders say that some of the best vantage points are the Putney Bridge, the Putney Embankment, and Bishops Park at the start of the race; Hammersmith Bridge at the middle of the course; and Duke’s Meadows and Chiswick Bridge near the finish line.

The world’s most famous steeplechase takes place on the final day of the three-day event at the Aintree Racecourse, in front of some 70,000 spectators and 6 million television viewers who collectively have placed bets totaling about $150 million. The race, which was first run in 1836, features 40 horses and their riders competing on a four-mile course with 30 jumps.

Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
The fourth round of the 2010 Izod IndyCar Series takes place on the streets of downtown Long Beach, on a temporary two-mile, 11-turn circuit. In addition to Sunday’s main race, the three-day event, which is expected to draw 175,000 spectators, will include the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, in which stars from the sports and entertainment industries compete against professional drivers in identically prepared Scion tCs. That race takes place Saturday.

Tribeca Film Festival
The event, cofounded by Robert De Niro, is now in its ninth year. It takes place in downtown Manhattan and screens approximately 135 films from around the world. In addition to the traditional film screenings, the festival will include three nights of outdoor screenings at the World Financial Center Plaza (April 22–24), a family street fair in Tribeca (May 1), and a series of panel discussions with filmmakers and actors. The event also will include the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, featuring the latest independent sports films.
