The St. Regis Resort Residences, Bal Harbour

It is one of the world’s most exclusive destinations. And it will soon boast one of the world’s most luxurious and architecturally significant oceanfront addresses – The St. Regis Resort & Residences, Bal Harbour.

The location is legendary – 1,000 feet of white-sand beach in Bal Harbour Village, the ultra-affluent community at the northern tip of Miami Beach, a cozy tropical oasis along famed Collins Avenue (Highway A-1-A) with a reputation that rivals Beverly Hills, Monaco and St. Tropez. Here, in three gleaming glass towers surrounded by tailored formal gardens and dramatic water features, residents will come to experience the bespoke lifestyle that is the hallmark of the acclaimed St. Regis brand.

To make the most of this exquisite setting, Starwood Vacation Ownership, a part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts family, chose Florida-based architect Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership to create spacious one, two, three, and four-bedroom condominium residences that give owners a true sense of indoor-outdoor living. Starwood also enlisted the services of interior designer firm Yabu Pushelberg, which worked on the acclaimed St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco.

At The St. Regis Resort & Residences, Bal Harbour, the Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership drew from its legacy of creating singular oceanfront properties with a signature flowthrough, see-through design.

“The result will be a living environment unlike any other in the world,” says Charles Sieger, president of the Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership. “You look out one side and see sunrise over the ocean. Look out the other side and the view is of cityscapes, the Intracoastal Waterway and sunsets. It’s like having a home in the clouds.”

Plans call for 268 ultra-luxury residences, 37 condo-hotel suites, 183 hotel rooms and 24 fractional suites. The architects went to exceptional lengths to make sure the property fully complemented its setting, seeing to it that parking was kept unobtrusive in underground garages.

“There is also behind-the-scenes technology that manifests itself in everything from sound isolation to bathroom fixtures to an air conditioning system that relies on chilled water rather than noisy heat pumps,” said Sieger. “The result is a residence that is quiet and tranquil.”

This marks the first collaboration between Sieger Suarez and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

“Sieger Suarez was really able to thread the needle on all the experiences that one will find here — from hotel guests to owners to those who come here to use the 12,000-squarefoot RemèdeSM Spa,” says Keith Fordsman, Vice President of Development, Starwood Vacation Ownership.

According to Fordsman, one of the property’s most striking features will be the spacious residential balconies, which offer from 455 to 1,300 square feet of outdoor living space. “Step out on the balcony and it is a real ‘Wow’ moment,” says Fordsman. “Most balconies feel tiny and hemmed in. These balconies allow guests and residents to enjoy true outdoor living experiences.”

Another unique component to enhance outdoor living – St. Regis style – is the signature St. Regis Butler Service. Always on call, attentive and discreet butlers serve as Residents’ liaison to a collection of services. From arranging a dinner party prepared by an acclaimed chef, to an intimate celebration with Champagne and strawberries, the team of St. Regis butlers is dedicated to ensuring the perfect alfresco environment.

This sense of refinement carries through to the luscious landscaping, which offers a modern take on formal gardens with a distinctly Floridian approach with multiple pools and water features highlighting the subtropical flora and fauna. Special imaginative elements, such as a premier selection of sculptures, help create a true oasis of serenity.
