Cast in seamless ceramic, Duravit’s new Ciottolo collection of washbasins by German designer Michael Sieger was created to impart the aura of an art gallery in simple powder rooms. Indeed, its very name—the Italian word for pebble—speaks to this sculptural collection’s Zen-like balance of natural forms and materials.

“These are statement pieces for spectacular bathrooms,” says Tim Schroeder, president of Duravit’s U.S. operations. Central to the line are its three basins ($1,000 to $1,400). One measures a generous 35 by 21 by 11 inches. A deeper urn-shaped model is 19 by 13 by 14 inches. Each is available in satiny white. The line’s signature piece, a circular bowl measuring 20 by 7 inches, also comes in a shimmering platinum finish. All have been outfitted with deluxe details such as discreet covered drains and Wondergliss—an impervious glaze—to keep them pristine with no fuss.

Sieger fashioned a coordinating assortment of well-appointed furnishings ($1,000 to $6,000) to accompany the washbasins. These include a tall console, as well as wall- and floor-mounted vanities in either ice birch or high-gloss rosewood veneers. Classic chrome hardware and a series of softly geometric wall mirrors (notable for their subtle integrated lighting) complete the mix.
