REVERSO PSYCHOLOGY
Polacheck’s Jewelers l Calabasas, California
The Jaeger-Le Coultre Reverso Squadra Lady’s case is adorned with 36 diamonds totaling .55 carats. The stainless steel model (above) is priced at $6,850, and the watch also is available in 18-karate yellow gold (right). The movement is quartz-powered, and the wristband can be changed easily. You can personalize the watch by having the second face engraved. “For the longest time Jaeger was making only small watches for women, but they finally caught up with the trend of oversize watches,” says Brent Polacheck, owner of Polacheck’s Jewelers, which has three locations in Southern California: Calabasas, Sherman Oaks, and Thousand Oaks. “I also like that the leather strap is easy to remove, so you can have four or five different colored straps and not have to bring it in to us to have it changed each time. What I also love about this watch is the price point—a Jaeger women’s watch with diamonds for under $8,000. That’s a home run.”

The dial, lit up by a whirling diamond-encrusted heart, signifies the purity of the lover’s affection.”

This Cartier Ballon Bleu is crafted from 18-karat yellow gold and features a double row of diamonds on the bezel. It’s priced at $39,175. The watch is available in three sizes (the large and medium models have automatic movements; the small size is quartz-powered), and it’s also available in stainless steel and a combination of stainless steel and 18-karat yellow gold. “At night in an evening gown, you don’t want to wear a watch that’s too large, but the midsize model is the right size to double as a dress and a sport watch,” says Polacheck’s owner Brent Polacheck. “It’s an evening-gown watch, but you also can wear it with jeans and a T-shirt. It has a sexy, sporty appearance for the day, and at night it’s elegant.”
