April 8: Highlights at Bonhams & Butterfields’ 20th Century Decorative Arts auction in Los Angeles include a Dirk van Erp hammered copper and mica lamp circa 1910 as well as a Stow & Davis walnut-and- stainless-steel desk from the 1970s.

April 9–11: The Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Palm Beach at the South Florida Fairgrounds will feature a 1969 RS/SS Camaro, with proceeds benefiting veterans.

April 17–19: Over 600 cars are expected at Kruse International’s Palm Beach Collector Car Auction 2009 at the Cars of Dreams Museum in North Palm Beach. A 1972 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Landaulet four door, one of only three that were built, is expected to garner between $1.75 million and $2 million.

April 21: Doyle New York’s Important Estate Jewelry auction will offer pieces from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Buccellati, and Tiffany & Co. as well as fine watches, compacts, cigarette cases, and cufflinks. Highlights include a pear-shaped fancy yellow diamond ring as well as a black-and-white enamel zebra bangle with diamonds and rubies by David Webb.

April 23: A copy of the Chicago Daily Tribune from November 3, 1948, with the incorrect "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline, signed by both candidates (the then-president-elect added "Truman hasn’t found it out"), is expected to go for at least $10,000 at Swann Galleries’ Autographs auction.

April 24–26: First held in 1929, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, Italy, will feature historic cars built up to 1979 as well as concept cars presented after January 2007. A panel of judges awards the Best of Show winner with the BMW Group Trophy, while the Coppa d’Oro is decided by a public vote.

April 25–26: RM Auctions’ Classic Car Auction of Michigan will be held at the Rock Financial Showplace in the city of Novi.

April 28: Diamonds, pearls, and Indian-influenced jewelry as well as watches by Patek Philippe, Cartier, Rolex, and Franck Muller will be on the block at Christie’s Jewels and Watches sale in Dubai. A classic five-row natural pearl necklace is expected to sell for upwards of $180,000.
