On the Market: W Hollywood Hotel and Residences

November 1, 2007

LOCATION: At Hollywood and Vine, steps from landmarks like Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Capitol Records building.

FOR SALE: A total of 143 residences, including studios, one- and two-bedroom units and three-bedroom penthouses.

DESIGN: Kitchens are fitted with Poliform’s Varenna cabinetry in a wenge finish, CaesarStone granite countertops, Sub-Zero refrigerators, Kuppersbusch ovens, stoves and dishwashers; bathrooms feature Dornbracht fixtures, Brazilian limestone and Kohler Tea-for-Two tubs; there are also large Poliform closets.

BUILDING AMENITIES: A PURE nightclub on the roof, a residents-only pool, a Bliss spa, a gym and a dramatic residents-only living room with a circular staircase and space to host fashion trunk shows, wine tastings and film screenings. The landscaping is being created by Rios Clementi Hale Studios, who chose Southeast Asian–style gardens with star jasmine and black bamboo for the entry, and French–inspired gardens with Italian Cyprus and lavender for the rooftop pool. The property will also seek LEED certification.

WHAT SETS IT APART: "Unlike most builders, we weren’t thinking about a particular demographic profile—age, gender—as much as a psychographic profile—people who appreciate design, fashion, the arts," explains Marty Collins, CEO of Gatehouse Capital, the developer. "We want to create an atmosphere where people are connected by common interests, not necessarily just common backgrounds." Additionally, the project touts itself as the first and only mixed-use hotel and condo development of its kind in Los Angeles.

MARKET INQUIRIES: Prices start at $1 million. 323.469.8800, www.whollywoodresidences.com
