On The Market: Unit 1000, The World
November 1, 2006
LOCATION: Appropriately named The World (see Robb Report Vacation Homes, June/July 2006), the ship travels throughout the globe (itineraries are available up to 18 months in advance). Destinations for 2007 include Rio de Janeiro for Carnival in mid-February, Cannes for the film festival in May, and Valencia in the summer for the America’s Cup, as well as Russia, Croatia and Estonia. Unit 1000 is located in the stern of deck number 10—the second-highest residential deck—and has penthouselike views.
BACKGROUND: Launched in 2002, the 48,000-ton ship recently sold all of its
165 private residences—only resale units are available. (Click image to enlarge)
STATS: The 3,242-square-foot apartment features three bedrooms and a veranda that wraps around three-quarters of the unit. Sold furnished, the interiors were designed in a mint and tangerine color scheme by Italian firm Di Pilla and include Frette linens, Christofle dinnerware and Waterford and Baccarat crystal. The ship offers four restaurants, two casual eateries, a Clinique La Prairie spa, a marina sports deck with water-sports platform, two swimming pools, a putting green and golf course simulator, a tennis court and a full gym.
WHAT SETS IT APART: “When you buy a vacation home, most people look for that
fabulous view—here, you have all of the views,” says Nikki Upshaw, senior vice
president of sales and marketing for the ship. “You’re constantly seeing an evolving landscape of
different oceans, cities and mountains.” (Click image to enlarge)
MARKET INQUIRIES: $7.295 million, plus annual maintenance fees of $518,000. Nikki Upshaw, 305.269.5151, www.aboardtheworld.com
