On The Market: Surfers Paradise, Australia
11/01/2004
North of Sydney, the beachside town of Surfers Paradise nestles into Australia’s
Gold Coast. A sleepy little beach village in the 1960s, the area has matured
into a world-class cosmopolitan city that hosts millions of visitors annually. (Click image to enlarge)Originally a hotel in the 1950s, the Chevron was famed for its annual concours d’elegance, a parade of high fashion and prestige cars, and its Skyline cabaret lounge. Redesigned for the 21st century, today’s Chevron Renaissance offers a trio of luxury condominium towers and is, once again, the talk of the town.
The 40th-floor penthouse in Skyline Tower offers nearly 5,400 square feet of living space on two levels, as well as a private elevator. Its interiors, created by Melbourne-based Tibor Hubay, are dominated by grand floor-to-ceiling windows in honor of the stunning coastal and city views. The multilevel rooftop sun terrace features a plunge pool and an atrium-enclosed master bath surrounded by reflection pools and peaceful fountains. “It’s the jewel on the crown of the Skyline Tower,” says developer Jim Raptis of the Raptis Group.
At the moment, the Skyline Tower property is the only penthouse on the Gold Coast real estate market. No other new penthouses in the area will be ready for immediate occupancy until 2006.
