HISTORY: Built in 1942 by architect Robert Carrere, ­Villa de Monta–a includes sand-cast bricks and steel beams purchased from the Mexican exhibit at the 1939 World’s Fair in San Francisco–Carrere’s resourceful solution to the limited construction supplies during World War II.
