On The Market: Santa Fe, New Mexico

January 1, 2007

Location: Just off the old Santa Fe Trail, in the south-east part of the city.

Background: The home was originally built during the 1920s in the traditional Arts and Crafts style using mostly stone that was quarried on-site. In 2002, Jordanian architect Meisa Batayneh added on an additional 10,000 square feet for the current owners, who divide their time between Santa Fe and Jordan. Included in the renovation was an updated kitchen with Sub-Zero, Thermador and Wolf appliances. (Click image to enlarge)

Stats: Located on 10 acres, the 15,875-square-foot home includes a Rookwood Pottery fireplace and cherrywood paneling, ceilings and doors that are all original to the home. There is also a roof deck, an outdoor life-size chess set and a Zen garden.

What Sets It Apart: "The craftsmanship and the details are unbelievable here," says Realtor Paula Berthelot. "On the floor of the entryway is a large mosaic, which is a reproduction of one found at Mount Nebo in Jordan, and they also have the only private Olympic-size swimming pool in the city."
