On The Market: Napa, California
May 1, 2006
LOCATION: In Napa Valley, about 10 minutes from downtown Napa.
HISTORY:
Current owners Jack and Gayle Daniels, who formerly owned a wine importing and
distributing company, purchased the 36-acre estate in 1997 and spent six years
renovating and landscaping the property. Inspired by Tuscany, the owners also
wanted the home to reflect the character of the Napa wine region. Stone used in
the home’s construction was gathered from the grounds and complemented with
additional stone from local quarries. (Click image to enlarge)
STATS: The property includes a 3,000-square-foot main house with interior design by
Erin Martin and a separate 2,900-square-foot guesthouse with a private
upper-level living area and lower-level entertainment area. A third structure, a
3,000-square-foot carriage house, has a caretaker’s unit and three-car garage.
The estate also includes a bocce ball court and multiple groomed hiking paths.
Growing on the private acreage are olive groves, fruit trees and mature
vineyards with grapes for Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah wines. (Click image to enlarge)
WHAT SETS IT APART: “The attention
to detail here is incredible. The Tuscan-inspired architecture, knoll-top setting and views of the San Francisco skyline are very
seductive,” says
broker Scott Anderson. “Once you experience the estate, you want to stay
forever.”
MARKET INQUIRIES: $9.6 million, also available furnished.
