Background: Beginning in the mid-1990s, Hollywood producer Steve Bing spent 10 years acquiring nine adjoining homes—and tearing them down—with the plan of building one large private estate for himself. Instead, he decided to sell the land to his builder, who had intended to develop and build six private estates. However, the builder then decided to sell the property to Heritage Development, the current owners.

Stats: The property includes 12.4 acres of land of varying topography. Offered with the sale is a conceptual plan for a grand estate that would include a main house, greenhouse, putting green, tennis court, garden, orchard and lagoon.

What Sets It Apart: "There has never been a property of this size offered like this, not even when they originally divided Bel-Air into large lots during the 1920s and 1930s," says Realtor Robert Beeney of The Greenwich Group International. "In addition to its size, it’s also remarkable for having a view. Even the hotel doesn’t have a view."

Market Inquiries: The property is offered unpriced. "I’d be surprised if the property went for less than $75 million," says Beeney. The Realtors will start accepting offers at the end of 2006.
