Timepiece aficionados have an array of inventively styled watches from which to choose, and finding a standout design has become increasingly difficult. The Chronoswiss Day Night Timemaster, however, is certain to grab the attention of any observer. The split day-and-night design features matte black metal and luminescent Super-LumiNova C3 material for exceptional readability, displayed in a reverse pattern on the upper and lower halves of the dial. The luminous hands have black varnish on their outer edges to enhance precise reading, and a black crocodile strap offsets the dramatic dial.

The watch’s unorthodox 24-hour display places the “24” numeral at the “6” position, and leaves the “12” in its usual place. The creative arrangement is eye-catching, but also serves a practical purpose—according to Chronoswiss, it provides optimal legibility and is more intuitive for a watch used during waking hours.

The polished stainless steel case’s 44 mm diameter was chosen to accommodate the caliber 674 movement by ETA, which Chronoswiss modified for a 24-hour display. It marks the first time that the time construction has a center-second, a balance stop, and a swan-neck fine adjustment for the pusher.

The watchmaker created the Day Night especially for pilots and for athletes who enjoy extreme sports. And though it’s capable of exceptional functionality, the watch can be appreciated even if its user isn’t bungee jumping in Africa or piloting a vintage plane across the Caribbean. The Day Night Timemaster sells for $6,750.
