Orbita
Chuck Agnoff’s wife gave him a gold rolex watch to celebrate his 60th
birthday and his retirement. He soon learned, however, that if he did not wear
the watch for a few days, it would stop running and he would have to reset the
time, day, and date. This sparked an interest in watch winders, and Agnoff
postponed his retirement to found Orbita. The company sells a variety of watch
winders in styles ranging from sleek modern to ornate baroque, accommodating
between one and 40 watches. Whether you have one or two fine automatic watches
or a substantial collection, you will be able to find a watch winder to suit
your needs and decor.
Individually program Orbita Avanti’s 12 watch-heads to indicate winding direction and number of daily rotations. (Click on image to enlarge.)The Avanti is a new series of programmable watch winders with Italian-made cases finished in macassar ebony and carbon fiber. It comes in sizes for 1, 3, 6, 9, or 12 watches, and can be mounted on a pedestal or on the wall. Prices range from $995 to $9,995. The Bergamo takes a more elaborate approach with ash and walnut burl veneers, wood inlays, and 24-karat gold fascia trim. It can contain 9, 12, 24, or 40 watches, and is priced between $6,500 and $46,000. Orbita’s most grand, the Bergamo 40 Baroque, features 40 individually controlled watch winder modules employing a patented system that gently rocks the watch in both directions every 10 or 15 minutes.
