Bob Bondurant’s passion for racing, coupled with an onslaught of wins, facilitated his inevitable rise to fame on Carroll Shelby’s Ford Cobra team in 1963. One particular win occurred in October of that year during a three-hour endurance race in Riverside, Calif., when Bondurant was behind the wheel of the CSX 2137, the car that will always be remembered for drawing first blood in the Cobra-Ferrari wars of the ’60s. Today, more than 40 years after the heraldic races, GMP pays tribute to Bondurant’s #99 CSX 2137 Cobra in a 1:12 scale version of the classic racecar. Each aspect of the car is exquisitely detailed—from the engine to the worn leather upholstery—making the #99 model a rare commodity that will intrigue the avid car collector. Only 500 of the #99 CSX 2137 Cobra die-cast models will be available, priced at $500. (Click image to enlarge)
