Collection Gift Guide: Aston-ishing

Christian Gulliksen

December 2, 2003

David Linley
David Linley’s bespoke furniture takes inspiration from sources as far afield as imperial St. Petersburg, Moderne London, and contemporary New York. What his pieces have in common, however, is sophisticated design and materials. Last year Linley, whose shop is in London’s Pimlico Road, introduced the curvaceous Aston chair—inspired by the sensuous forms of 1960s Aston Martins—and now the English designer has created a brace of variants, large and small. The Two Seater stretches the Aston à deux, while the Astonette and footstool provide slightly more cozy accommodation. All are available in perforated leather, with prices starting at £3,050 (approximately $5,000) for the Two Seater, £2,350 (approximately $4,000) for the Astonette, and £900 (approximately $1,500) for the footstool. Linley can also cover the Aston chairs in any material a client specifies, or indeed customize the design of any piece to suit individual needs.
