Letter From The Editor: Fraternal Pride
January 1, 2006
Here at the Robb Report Collection, we are perennially proud to be bound, both
physically and editorially, to Robb Report, our flagship publication. But we
have never, perhaps, been so puffed up with pride as we have been during the
making of this issue–knowing that it would be hugging the back of a monumental
edition celebrating Robb’s 30th year of existence. Collection, introduced only
four years ago, has always functioned as Robb’s little brother; it adds to the
charm of its elder by updating you on the best of what is on the market: new
automobiles, home design elements, electronics and real estate–in its distinctly
jaunty style.
In this special issue, created in commemoration of Robb Report’s birthday, we
bring you wall-to-wall features (nine in all!) that profile some of the top
trends and players in the residential real estate and home design
industries.
Veteran Robb contributor William Kissel took on the colossal task of
assembling 20 of the most influential pieces of furniture produced over the past
30 years (Hallmarks of Style); while many are still in production, a handful are no longer
being made, so get them now, before they are nabbed to extinction by serious
collectors. Writer Linda C. Lentz rounded up a clutch of influential kitchen and
bath products launched over the past few years–most of which have spawned a
multitude of copies (Kitchen Innovators).
Elsewhere, we bring you our top picks in luxury real estate, from hot home
markets (America's Most Wanted) and elegant gated developments (Inside Looking Out) to sublime sporting
communities that allow you to indulge in your favorite leisure activities,
whether they be fly-fishing and yachting or horseback riding and hunting (The Sporting Life). We also interrogated some A-list architects on four of the most requested
architectural styles in the nation (The Perfect Type). Because while speculation over
when the real estate bubble will burst has been dominating party chatter as of
late, those who choose to invest in good design will always come out on top.
