Koenigsegg CCX 2007
January 1, 2007
If you think of safe and sensible vehicles by Volvo and Saab when you think of cars from Sweden, then think again. Christian von Koenigsegg founded his own Swedish car company in 1993, started production at the turn of the century, and now has a staff of 30 producing handbuilt supercars bearing CC (Competition Coupe) nomenclature. As in the CC8S, the CCR, and the newest of Koenigsegg’s creations, the CCX, which is intended to launch the marque in the North American market. Launch is a fitting term for a U.S.-legal car with 800-plus hp and a top speed of 245 mph. The CCX also has road holding claimed to be capable of pulling 1.3g on the skid pad, and brakes good enough to haul the car down from 60 mph to a stop in a hair over 100 feet. Standard equipment for this carbon and Kevlar creation includes a removable roof, traction control with five settings, and leather seats. The options list includes various items in carbon and titanium as well as fitted luggage and—highly recommended—a driving course.
