The displacement of the latest Corvette Z06’s 7-liter V-8 is no accident; in U.S. units the number recalls an historic Corvette appellation of 427 cubic inches. Possessing scalding acceleration, the car achieves 60 mph in little over three seconds, and the Z06 will charge onward to 198 mph. In today’s eco-conscious environment, it’s interesting to note that the 505 hp Z06 evades gas-guzzler tax with its EPA highway fuel consumption rating of 26 mph. This combination of performance and economy is due in no small part to the Z06’s stringent weight-loss regimen.
