Infiniti FX45 2007
January 1, 2007
The FX45 crossover SUV, based on the same platform as the G and M sedans, was one of the first of its breed. In size, configuration, and intent, the FX45 is a sport coupe crossed with a traditional SUV. At first sight, the FX45 looks to be some hyperaggressive, predatory breed of bullfrog. Its plunging roofline, tall body sides, shockingly large (for 2003) 20-inch wheels, and evil-eye headlights made it one of the most stared-at new vehicles. The FX45’s cargo hold is fairly small and its off-roading capabilities are nonexistent, but this SUV is all about speed and style. Thanks to its relative lack of heft (compared to the Porsche Cayenne or Range Rover Sport), the FX45 is quick. And courtesy of wide performance tires, quick steering, and a stiff suspension, it also handles well. Having undergone a mild face-lift in 2006—including a new grille and bumper as well as a much-needed interior upgrade—the FX45 has no significant changes for 2007.
