Hummer H2 2007
January 1, 2007
The Gulf War–veteran Hummer H1 has shuffled off (slowly and loudly, no doubt) to wherever gigantic military vehicles go to die. This leaves the H2 as the biggest and, therefore, most Hummerish Hummer. Based on the last-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, the H2 is still available as either SUV or SUT (a four-door with a tiny pickup-truck bed at the back) models. The only available engine is the 325 hp, 6.0-liter small-block V-8. Even this powerful engine has its work cut out to pull around more than three tons of military-look vehicle. It is not fast and it is not frugal. But probably no other vehicle on the market infuriates do-gooders more, and that’s worth something. For 2007, GM tries to graft the bloom back onto the H2’s rose, with a Glacier Blue limited edition that features a rear-vision camera system (something all H2s could use), a rear-seat DVD system, and various cosmetic touches, such as chrome wheels.
