Cadillac Escalade ESV 2007
January 1, 2007
In the days before an established category for luxury SUVs existed, the Cadillac Escalade was a risky proposition. But the concept took hold—especially after the Escalade’s first redesign in 2002—and the SUV became the darling of hip-hop moguls and suburban moms alike. Its popularity continues thanks to the Escalade’s combination of utility and luxury, which is delivered with an unapologetic dose of style. Cadillac’s full-size SUV lineup, comprehensively revised for 2007, now includes the short-wheelbase Escalade, the pickup-like EXT, and the range-topping, long-wheelbase ESV. The new ESV’s styling cues bring it firmly into Cadillac’s stylistic fold, and the company has responded to its customers’ penchant for custom design with a slate of accessory options that may help render aftermarket suppliers redundant. Cadillac has also given the ESV plenty of grunt: The standard 6.2-liter V-8 produces a healthy 403 hp.
