Subaru WRX STI Limited 2007

January 1, 2007

First, there was simply the WRX, the hopped-up Subaru Impreza named, designed, and engineered to carry over to the street the success that the Japanese automaker was enjoying in the World Rally Championship. The WRX came as a sedan or a wagon, and it came hard and fast and with a turbocharged fun-to-drive factor.

Then came the even more powerful—as in almost 300 horsepower powerful—and dynamic WRX STI, named for Subaru’s in-house high-performance arm.

Next came the WRX TR. That’s TR as in "tuner ready," as in we’ll cut the price and let you do you go to the aftermarket for audio, seat, and other performance upgrades.

Now we have the WRX STI Limited aimed at the other end of the market. Take off that big rear wing, insert black leather seats, mount black-colored brake calipers, special 17-inch wheels, grippy tires, and some other goodies. Limit production to 800 units—400 each in oh-so-subtle Satin White Pearl or Urban Gray Metallic—and make them available only by pre-order and then only from select Subaru dealers. With the WRX STI Limited rounding out the offerings, there is now a Subaru for everyone.
