Bentley Arnage T 2007
January 1, 2007
During the 1920s, the Bentley Boys dominated racetracks with immense, supercharged racers that Ettore Bugatti aptly called "the world’s fastest lorries." Now, nearly a century later, the Arnage T shares much in common with its "Blower" Bentley antecedents: It’s big, brash, and fast. The twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V-8 has been enhanced to produce an impressive 500 hp for 2007, but it is the accompanying 738 ft lbs of torque that provides the greatest thrill. Now equipped with a 6-speed ZF transmission in place of the old 4-speed, this ultraluxe sedan moves with authority and more than a little rumble as it achieves 60 mph in around five seconds. Inside the cabin, a beautifully crafted interior features aluminum trim and leather seats sewn in a quilted pattern.
For those who appreciate a driving experience tuned more for comfort than sport, Bentley offers the Arnage R and its long-wheelbase Arnage RL companion, which adds 10 inches of legroom for rear passengers. With softer suspension tuning and engines rated for 450 hp, these cars deliver only slightly less spirited performance.
