Collection Gift Guide: Ready for the X Games

Ad Boivin Snow Hawk Rotax 600 H.O.
Rollicking in wintry weather just became a bit more fun with the 2004 release of AD Boivin’s latest snowmobile, the Snow Hawk Rotax 600 H.O. ($9,199). With the edge and handling of a dirt bike, the revamped Snow Hawk is equipped with twice the power of its 500F predecessor, giving it a highly desirable power-to-weight ratio accentuated by an inaugural liquid cooling system. The twin-axis compression-molded ski is another addition to this year’s model, enabling sharp handling in deep snow and allowing navigation similar to that of a Jet Ski in water. Its enhanced hill timing and climbing capabilities make a ride on this cross-country vehicle something akin to a full-body workout. This is not a conventional snowmobile.

But the Snow Hawk’s typical owner understands and respects its demanding nature. Many are Harley-Davidson devotees, and the Snow Hawk is also attracting attention from a younger, competitive demographic. “We’re looking into the X Games,” says Sales Director Vincent Melanson, explaining that the Snow Hawk’s capabilities make it a natural for freestyle events in national competitions. “If not this year, next year for sure.” With the limited release of 250 Snow Hawks this season and the certainty of selling out by winter’s end, AD Boivin has its sights set on added dimensions in the future. We can’t wait.  (Click image to enlarge)
