Spyker C12 LaTurbie 2007

January 1, 2007

Named for the famous competitive hill-climbing event staged near Monte Carlo, the Spyker C12 LaTurbie recalls a 1922 victory by a Spyker C4 Tourer in the hands of Dutch nobleman Hugo Van Pallandt. The LaTurbie—first seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005—is expected to go into production in the spring of 2007. This new 12-cylinder Spyker will be longer, wider, and more powerful than the company’s C8 variations. The power train for the C12 comes courtesy of Audi, as a version of that company’s 6.0-liter W-12 (also found in the Bentley Continental GT), but tuned to deliver 500 horsepower in the Spyker. The C12 LaTurbie should be capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in just under four seconds en route to a top speed a tick or so above 200 mph. Like the C8 Spyder, LaTurbie will be available first as a two-seat roadster, later as a closed coupe.
