Saleen S281 2007
January 1, 2007
The name Saleen has been synonymous with high-performance Mustangs for over 22 years. Surely nobody has been building modified Mustangs longer than that, and certainly no one can have built as many. Since way back in 1984, Saleen has produced Mustangs with power, handling and styling enhancements. All Saleen Mustangs are treated to a complete performance makeover. The chassis receives Saleen’s Racecraft suspension setup, including improved "N2" shocks, uprated springs, stiffer bushings, and improved brakes. Saleen has always used eye-catching styling to identify his work, with unique aerodynamic front and rear fascias, rocker extensions, and of course his trademark rear-mounted wing. In the rear, the Saleen car is differentiated from the average retro-styled Mustang visually and audibly by a carbon fiber diffuser (for increased down force), and by a center-mounted high-performance exhaust. Anchoring the package are Saleen’s signature wide wheels and Pirelli tires. There are three models of the S281 for 2007. The base model has a neck-snapping 330 hp, the supercharged version has a tire-smoking 435 hp, and the Extreme puts out a pavement-pulverizing 550 hp.
