Porsche 911 GT3/RS 2007

January 1, 2007

The 911 Turbo may be the most powerful Porsche offered, but the GT3 is the weapon of choice amongst the hard core Porsche fanatics looking for a 911 to perform double duty on the road and at the track. A true factory hot rod, the GT3 underwent a thorough massaging by Porsche racecar engineers. The car’s 415-horsepower 3.6-liter engine is the most powerful normally aspirated engine the company has ever built. A specially tuned intake manifold and lightweight, free-flowing exhaust system deliver the extra power over a wide operating range, and equip it with a nasty high-rev snarl. A race-proven aerodynamics package with adjustable biplane rear wing, fully adjustable suspension, and traction control adapted from the Carrera GT improve handling and ride over past GT3 models. Despite that, the car’s interior retains all the comfort and convenience one expects in a modern 911. If that sounds good, then look out for the RS derivation, which is a leaner, meaner, barely disguised racecar version of the GT3.
