Mini Cooper S/Convertible 2007
January 1, 2007
It may be difficult to tell from the lightly altered exterior that the 2007 Mini is all new, but in every respect it is improved over its predecessor. New engines for both standard and turbocharged Cooper S versions are more powerful and efficient, the optional automatic transmission now has six speeds instead of five, and the suspension has been reworked to improve ride quality without affecting point-and-shoot handling characteristics. Also new is the cabin, which has a more luxurious feel without departing from tradition. The central speedometer still dominates the dashboard, but is surrounded by softer materials. A major safety upgrade is the provision of six airbags. For the 2007 model year, the convertible version will continue to be based on the previous-generation car. Like its new hardtop sibling, the drop-top Mini is lavishly equipped for the money; its specification includes a power-operated top and rollover bars behind the rear seats.
