Logbook: Mile Markers 2007 Jaguar XKR

The Editors

April 1, 2008

2007 JAGUAR XKR
Price As Tested:
$94,700
Engine: 4.2-liter supercharged V-8
Power: 420 hp at 6,250 rpm
Torque: 413 ft lbs at 4,000 rpm
Odometer: 23,142 miles

At 23,142 miles, the Jaguar XKR has been recruited for several trips up and down the California coastline. Although the unsightly AM/FM antenna appears to have taken a severe beating after the recent windy and rainy weather, the engine is still going strong.

19,700—"I took the Jaguar XKR home to the Central Valley for the winter holidays," writes Meyers. "With a large suitcase, guitar, and gifts for the family, I filled every square inch of stowage space—even the passenger seat. This car is not really geared to accommodate a vacation or lengthy road-trip."

20,350—Putting the top up seriously limits outward visibility, a situation compounded by the darkness and reflective glare of driving on a stormy night. This car is built for top-down cruising on sunny days.

20,644—"I appreciate the ample legroom that is available for front seat occupants," writes Timothy McGrane, Vice President of Events. "And I really like the range adjustment on the steering wheel—Audi, take note!"

21,000— "I took the car to a nice local restaurant and the valet parked it in the ‘showcase’ section," writes managing editor Jessica Taylor. "The valet snapped to attention and gave us exemplary service, one of the added benefits of owning a Jaguar."

22,255—"While getting to 60 mph in just five seconds can be fun, the real joy of driving the Jag comes in the 70+ mph range," writes assistant editor Bailey Barnard. "At high speeds, it still accelerates smoothly and effortlessly."
