Fisker Tramonto 2007
January 1, 2007
Sure, the Mercedes-Benz SL class is a beautiful car. But with SLs clogging up the valet lanes and stacked five deep in high-end parking lots, a man of distinction might hanker for something a little different. That’s where the Fisker Tramonto comes in. Never heard of a Fisker? Don’t feel bad. Only car-industry wonks know the man behind the new company. He is Henrik Fisker, former designer at BMW and Aston Martin. Like coachbuilders of old, Fisker applies its own body panels and trim to existing mechanical underpinnings. For the Tramonto, Fisker uses the Mercedes SL coupe/convertible. The price listed here is for the 604 hp Twin Turbo S model that is based on the SL65 AMG. Fisker will also give the Tramonto treatment to the less insanely powerful SL600 or the SL55 AMG. Should you be truly barking mad, Fisker will arrange to tune the car up to an estimated 670 hp. There will only ever be 150 Tramontos, so while we can’t say it’s prettier than the standard SL, it will certainly be less common.
