Superformance GT40 2007

January 1, 2007

For obvious reasons, the 1966–’67 Le Mans–winning Ford GT40 stands tall among the icons of international motorsport. Since then it has often been copied, even by Ford itself. But the Superformance GT40 replica is a precise duplicate of the Le Mans legend, right down to the stamped steel monocoque chassis with its outboard fuel tanks. Built by High Tech Automotive in South Africa, this GT40 retains more than 90 percent parts interchangeability with the original car, with far superior build quality, fit, and finish. The roof is very low, so a Gurney bubble is an option for taller drivers. To ensure that the compact racing cockpit stays cool, an air conditioner has been tucked into the chassis. Designed to accept a variety of Ford V-8s, from the small blocks to the mighty FE 427, the Superformance GT40 is available in any of the original competition body styles, in left- or right-hand-drive configurations.
