Great Gear: Bonspeed
August 4, 2003
Bonspeed’s wheels, apparel, and watches are designed with the hot rod and racing enthusiast in mind, and the company has consulted with Ford, GM, Mitsubishi, and Saleen to inject hot rod design into those manufacturers’ products.
Bonspeed’s wheels come in diameters ranging from 17 inches to 22 inches, and in various widths. They feature hidden valve stems, rolled edges, solid
billet center caps, and high-intensity forged centers. Most styles, such as the Crokus, shown, are available in 6-lug or 8-lug patterns. All wheels are built in California.
Bonneville watches by Bonspeed are the official timepiece of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Though they are assembled in Switzerland, they draw on the American hot rodding experience for style and are worn by many top hot rod builders. The design of the GearBox watch takes its inspiration directly from mechanical underpinnings and retails for $695. Silver numbers offset a black lacquer dial. (Click image to enlarge)
Owned by Brad Fanshaw and Michael Anthony (of
Van Halen), Bonspeed is headquartered in Anaheim, Calif., and has an 18,000-square-foot showroom located in Mesa, Ariz.
