Dinan BMW M5 2007

January 1, 2007

Though the BMW M5 may be one of the most impressive high- performance sedans on the planet, Steve Dinan feels that it could be improved. He believes what the M5 needs most is more bottom-end torque from its V-10 engine. So Dinan addresses this with a number of changes, including a larger throttle body, a more efficient stainless steel exhaust system, and an increase in displacement. The result is an improvement of over 100 hp on the stock V-10’s already generous 500 hp. To ensure that this power boost is really felt, the final drive ratio has been dropped to 3.91, for even sharper throttle response. Dinan installs gigantic six-piston Brembo brakes and a special suspension that retains BMW’s remarkable adjustable EDC dampers. Also added are attractive Dinan wheels running larger 285/30ZR-19 tires in the front, and 305/30ZR-19 tires in the rear. Dinan is all about the business of pavement-ripping BMW performance, and little else. Those looking for a signature body kit should look elsewhere.
