65Amps
65Amps, a Southern Californian newcomer to the handbuilt amplifier world, is rapidly making a name for itself with meticulously built and great-sounding low-powered guitar amplifiers. The hand-wired 65-London 18-watt employs all-tube topology, custom-wound transformers, and top-notch components to reflect the tones of collectible pre-1965 AC15 Vox amplifiers and 18-watt Marshall amps made between 1966 and 1968.

Tones range from chimey and sweet to throaty roars, and the London dishes out the complex and dynamic signature at a volume that allows the user to enjoy full-blast tube sustain and saturation. Loud enough to play with bandmates onstage but without the overkill of 100-watt monsters—the standard wattage designation of many classic and modern guitar amplifiers—the British-flavored tones emanating from this pint-size amp will bring to mind the sonic sculptures of the Beatles, Queen, and Led Zeppelin.
