When Alan Shepard became the first American to achieve spaceflight, he experienced about seven or eight minutes of weightlessness. Almost 50 years later, Zero G customers can experience that same amount of zero-gravity time, only without the grueling competition against 109 military test pilots that Shepard had to endure.

The Zero G experience involves a modified Boeing 727 aircraft that flies a series of 8,000-foot-high parabolas. At the peak of each parabola, the passengers will experience about 30 seconds of weightlessness. This process is repeated 12 to 15 times, with two additional parabolas included in the company’s platinum experience—a package that includes overnight accommodations, among other perks.

Flights take off regularly from Las Vegas, Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Titusville, Fla., though flights are occasionally scheduled in other cities throughout the year.
